Jennifer Brumm has always had a true, innate PASSION for hair and for making others feel better about themselves. Jen uses her intuition and attention to detail to give everyone In her chair a cut and color that compliments one’s features, works with his/her natural hair texture, and a cut that has lasting shape and is easy to style.
Jen opened her first salon, The Artistic Edge Hair Salon, 15 years ago in Chicago. Jen also had a location for many years in Boston. Jen then traveled to Austin, Texas where she had to opportunity to work with Curt Darling who is well known for the “darling dry cut.” Within the past years, Jen has also brought the dry cut to her mother’s home state, Iowa. After two years of traveling for hair, Jennifer has decided to come back and reopen her business where she is from and feels most at “home” in Boston.
Jennifer cuts hair dry — something drastically different than most all other salons out there. Why dry? As Jennifer simply puts it: “we don’t wear our hair wet.” This “dry cutting” allows room for much more texture, artistry, and a vast array of dimension — making it easy for even the most difficult hairstyling requests to walk out the door with a smile.
The dry cut technique, as well, makes life much easier for the client, as hair will naturally “fall into style” without the usual necessity of styling. Jennifer’s clients find their dry cuts to last twice to three times as long as a typical cut performed on wet hair. When the hair is cut dry, Jennifer can see the split/dead ends that can often be frayed and uncorrected and missed with a wet cut.
Along with specializing in the dry cut, Jen also specializes in any color service (including corrective color), updos for any occasion, and wedding parties. Jen continues to spend much of her career educating and/or helping other stylists look outside the box and embrace their artistic talent. Time with clients is always one-on-one and as tradition keeps, no one is allowed to leave until 100% happy.Throughout the years, Jen has proven to be at the cutting edge — or, as some would say, “the artistic edge” — of the evolution of the hair industry. Jens continued commitment to the importance of consultations and making sure her clients love their hair before they walk out the door is why Jennifer continues to have a following everywhere she brings her “artistic edge.”
